PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The new, 6,700 square foot Life Skills Transition Center, is a space designed to prepare students for the transition from student to young adulthood. In addition to traditional learning, this ADA-friendly-focused Center provides special education students and extended learning students who would traditionally be dependent on others for day-to-day tasks to learn valuable life skills that would enable them to one day graduate to living on their own. This Center features a classroom, workshop, and a fully furnished apartment, complete with a kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom, laundry room, and bathroom. By providing a Center that prepares students to succeed regardless of their circumstances, School District 201 is demonstrating independence can be achievable with the right resources.
